We bought this for our 3 year old Grandson. He loves it. My husband put it together and he loves putting things together and is really good at it. He had to admit, it wasn't hard, but took time. IF you have never put anything together have someone else do it. Well worth the price. After buying items before that we knew would last one day. This looks like it will last for sometime. My Grandson would not get off of it the first day. lol. He had a smile on his face all day. adjustable seat is also nice. Everything was in the package. YOU DO NEED TO READ the directions, as my husband took one thing a part and had to redo due to him only looking at pictures. lol. Would buy again.

This is a well made detialed model/toy I bought for my 3 year old son's brithday. He likes it very much. He does understand that it is plastic and he must be "gentle" or it will break. It is fine for indoor use but I do not think it would hold up outside in a sandbox very well.The hydrulic ram on the boom comes loose or out with aggressive use. I think if the child is not to rough on there toys and doesn't take it in the sandbox it will last a long time, my son is very much taken with it.

Just bought this for my 8 month old daughter and she loves them. She has been chewing on the cups for the last three days. She loves to play with them while eating as they look as a plate but have handles to chew on. We finally tried it out during the bath time tonight. She continued to play with them and didn't care that the water wasn't pooring out. She is a very active baby, so she is not entertained by just looking but rather by touching and chewing on things herself so she loves the cups. I did use the big cup to wash off the shampoo from her hair.

Rated 4 as agree with other reviewers that some wholes are too big and so far patterns are of no use, probably will use later.

My son really loves diggers, so this lifelike toy seemed like a perfect 3rd birthday present. However, the toy's bucket came installed upside down, and there is also a design defect. When the bucket is swiveled all the way down (i.e., as if the digger has dumped its load entirely), such that the thin black tubes that connect the shovel to the yellow arms are fully extended, these black tubes catch and will not retract--that is, the shovel cannot be swung back up for more digging. One has to jiggle the tubes so that they un-catch and slide back into the yellow arms, and my toddler cannot do this. Thus, when he is playing on his own, I have to come fix the shovel every few minutes. I gladly do this task for him, but I should not have to do so. A shame, because these Bruder toys look very accurate and well-built. I hesitate to buy another.

I purchased this for my baby daughter, but upon opening it I realized that this would make a great educational tool for my preschool age children. It's the perfect simple tool for teaching the life cycle of a caterpillar/butterfly. The yellow wings can be taken out, leaving a green caterpillar. Then the wings can be wrapped around the caterpillar and buttoned to form a cocoon, and finally placed through the caterpillar to make a butterfly (as pictured). I used this for an "insects" unit study with my children and they loved it. My 3 year old has been having a wonderful time "caring for" this caterpillar through imaginative play. The contrast of the hard wood and soft wings has made this a toy that holds the attention of my 4 month old also.

As with other products from Plan Toys, this is a high quality item. It is bigger than I pictured it being- a good surprise. Made of thick, sustainable rubberwood and painted with non-toxic water-based dyes. The sewing on the yellow wings and button seems durable. Excellent sale price. Highly recommended.

We bought this tractor from Joe Brands. It was a big disappointment! It was very poor quality and did not function at all as was described on the Joe Brands site. When I contacted Joe Brands and explained all the problems with this tractor they would not refund my money 100%. They refused to pay the return shipping to send their dysfunctional item back to them. They told me I had to pay the shipping and send it back to the manufacturer in Wisconsin instead of back to Joe Brands in Colorado. I am in Las Vegas and it cost me a lot for shipping to Wisconsin instead of Colorado. When I bought this item they sent it to me with free shipping. After I shipped it back to them and they received it they disallowed my initial "free shipping" and deducted the original shipping cost from my refund. I am out over $100 because of Joe Brands. The MEGA BLOKS CAT 7801 Articulated Dump Truck is pretty good, but I notice defects in the design. First the good: along with the other construction CAT series vehicles, this one is a lot of fun for 3YO and up. It is compatible with LEGO Duplo bricks, but has more details than the typical Duplo vehicle. It has its own detachable engine (plastic molding, not a working motor) and engine compartment hood that opens up for access. There is a wrench that fits the wheel hubs and other parts, and this can be fun to perform pretend service on the vehicle.

Weakness: the overall vehicle is not rugged enough to be used in actual dirt or sand without making it a real mess with effect on the moving parts. The dump mechanism is a weakness because the rear hinge is too weak and comes apart too easily. The simulated hydraulic lifters for the dump are fun to look at, but are not rugged enough to stand up to serious play.
I like the concept and the accessories. Good value if you have LEGO Duplo blocks and other gear, but this is not as rugged as I think it should be. The other weakness is the articulated joint that connects the cab with the dump trailer. This is a great concept, but is not quite the best engineering. The cab hits the dump body and the center of the truck seems to sag a bit too much in normal use. But the truck rolls very well across a smooth floor, and the soft rubber tires are very quiet and look great.

For indoor use, with other vehicles and things, this is worthy. My son has the Mega Bloks CAT 614 Material Hauler and it gets more play time and is more rugged than this dump truck. But dump trucks are very important for most play activities. Have fun!

My almost 3 year old is obsessed with all things construction trucks. We have a few Bruders, which we love due to the realistic design and movement. However, this truck did not hold up very good. My son had it a day and he scooped and filled the bucket (blocks, goldfish crackers, quarters), dumped it out, repeat etc many times. He slept with it in his room last night and took it with in the car today all b/c excavator is his favorite. During his play, he was able to detach two of the rods from the arm, they just hook on one end. Somehow in the detachment the arm stopped being able to stay up by itself. It now falls flat when lifted. While it's an otherwise good truck, we were unhappy with the flimsiness of this particular model. It sadly went back to the store.

I'm not sure why there are so many positive reviews of this toy, but I guess that other kids play differently with it. It is one of those toys that looks really cool to adults and the kids are excited about, but never actually gets used much. My kids wanted to take it outside and actually use it to dig in the dirt. And it doesn't do that very well. Mostly because in order to use it, you have to move it, and even my 6 year old can't pedal it over the grass or sand. The wheels only work on a hard surface, so they only time they were really able to use it is in the driveway to move some snow. I should also mention that 2 kids can't use it at once (like the real thing, you can't be on either end at the same time). Otherwise, this is an ENORMOUS toy and you have to have a place for it, which is difficult. No way is it a sandbox toy, as it doesn't even work in our 8 foot sandbox. It is my advice that for the same amount of money, you buy several construction vehicles from Little Tikes or Bruder that actually work in a sandbox or dirt and that kids can actually manipulate.

My Husband and I ordered this for our 5 year old son, who is obsessed with heavy equipment. After reading the review I was nervous of a couple of things,,,
-Would it be big enough
-Would it be sturdy
-Would we be able to assemble it
The answer to all these are yes. My son is not a huge kid but there is still room to grow for him, (40lbs)I can even sit on it at 120lbs and it doesn't feel well too weird, except that I'm sitting on a toy.
For a toy this is very sturdy, the shiny plasticky look scared me into thinking it would be flimsy, but it is not. He does 180's with it and flips it into the air. He runs into things like mad and none of the parts bend including the attachments.
Now construction, this was a shock for me to believe all the problems people were having. Now I'm open to the possibility that maybe the directions have changed since it came out. This took us less than an hour to assemble including the stickers. Now, we also were talking with German voices, and having a blast. So I think if this needed to be assembled quickly it could be done within a half hour. It was not frustrating at all for us, sure colored directions would be nice, but unnecessary.
So overall I am very pleased with this purchase, oh and the shipping time was not bad at all. If anybody is concerned about ordering through here I actually ordered mine through Northerntools.com

My son is obssesed with excavators and if ever there was one made out of durable material it would be great fun for the kids. But I cannot find one that will actually dig up dirt. I like that this one didn't have batteries or sounds, but unfortunately it also didn't have any durability either. The little hinge that makes the arm work broke within three days of use. Bummer.
